What is the Statistics Learning Centre?

The Statistics Learning Centre is series of 25+ videos produced by Dr. Nic, an experienced teacher and statistician from New Zealand. Here she is introducing the Statistics Learning Centre:

How is it useful?

Each video is approximately 5-10 minutes long. You can start with the very basics (e.g. what are the types of data? Which statistical test do I need?) all the way through to the practical application (e.g. how do I do a t-test in Excel?). The most popular tutorials include subjects like choosing a statistical test, interpreting p values, and understanding confidence intervals. At the moment there are about 30 videos, though more are being added all the time.

Each video includes introductions and definitions of the concepts before taking you through practical examples. Dr Nic. keeps it clear and simple and there are helpful illustrations throughout. Some of the videos include questions to check your understanding; you can pause the video and work it out before resuming to see how to work out the correct answer.

I have a short attention span when it comes to stats so for me the videos were perfect: they keep it simple and short enough that you don’t wander off or get bored. They would be great for revision for those familiar with the concepts or for learning concepts for the first time (though the pace is quite fast so I had to pause some of the videos to catch up).
