QMP Medical Statistics Online Tutorial: Normal Distribution

This tutorial teaches the essentials about the statistics in medicine and covers various aspects of normal distribution (ND): central limit theorem, properties of ND, NDs with different means and with different variances, variables that follow a ND, normal plot and introduction to t-distribution. As with all QMP tutorials, this one has various quizzes, examples and exercises to solidify your learned information. By the end of this tutorial you should understand what data are and how they are described and represented, what normal distribution looks like and so on.
Who is it aimed at?
This tutorial by the University of South Wales in Australia is aimed at young medical students and newly graduated doctors that are beginning to learn about EBM, math and statistics.
How long might it take to complete?
Depending on your level of knowledge in statistics and mathematics, it could take you approximately from one hour to an hour and a half to complete. Like most of the QMP tutorials, this one does not overload you with unnecessary information.
What are your opinions of it?
The deeper the tutorial goes into statistics and mathematics, the happier I am – my math and stats lectures were 6 years ago, so I’m very glad for an opportunity to revive some of the information and learn new one. Realizing what is “normal” in a statistical sense is critical for your future scientific career, so this is a tutorial that I’m definitely planning to come back to after my graduation.
